_In my opinion, one of the many, many responsibilities of being an educator is to provide students not just with knowledge and skills development, but to cultivate and provide for musical learning experiences that can be life-changing, attitude-changing, paradigm-shifting, etc.

To that end, we have been extremely fortunate at the University of Nebraska at Kearney to have had the opportunity to host some of the world's finest low brass musicians.

The most recent of these guest artists was Dennis AsKew, Professor of Music at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, my former teacher, and one-time president of the International Tuba-Euphonium Association.

While one might certainly expect to hear similar teachings from their own teacher, it was refreshing and engaging to hear new ideas and concepts along with those I was already quite familiar with.  And no matter how many times I hear tasteful, expressive, and engaging musicianship from a tuba player, it NEVER gets old.

So, thanks Doc, for sharing your knowledge and musicianship with Loper Low Brass and we hope your first visit to Nebraska was a great one and won't be your last.  Please check out his recital program from last Thursday and visit the links below for more info.
